How to modify certificate trust in Adobe
This tutorial describes how to modify the authentication of qualified certificates stored in Windows storage (MacOs) that Adobe does not verify and automatically evaluates as invalid as of January 1, 2020. For certificates stored on a smart card, there is no need to modify the authentication.
When you open Adobe Reader, click on "Menu" and select "Preferences". A new window will open, see image below, in the "Signatures" box, select "Next" for Identity and trusted certificates .

Here, as shown in the image below, click on "Trusted Certificates". You need to find the root certificate in the list, which is shown in the image in step 2. Once the certificate is selected, remove it and close the window.

After closing the window, go back to preferences, click on "Rights Manager". Here, uncheck Load trusted root certificates from Adobe AATL server in step 1 and update the list of root certificates from theEUTL database in step 2.

After restarting the application, the qualified certificates stored in Windows (macOS) will start to verify correctly.
