Qualified System Certificate

A qualified system certificate according to the Czech electronic signature act is designed to be used for the safe creation and authentication of electronic signs. The signing entity (the creator of an electronic sign) may be not only an individual, but also a legal entity or a central or local government authority. An electronic sign may be created automatically (for example in electronic registries for the confirmation of delivery).

Qualified system certificates are used especially for automated systems that use technologies based on the principles of electronic signature without assistance of a particular individual (for example electronic invoicing, sending bulk e-mails, confirmation of delivery from electronic registries, etc.).

The applicable legislation requires that a qualified system certificate must be used on specialized hardware.

Qualified system certificates may be used to:

  1. create electronic signs
  2. authenticate electronic signs
  3. authenticate electronic signs safely
  4. guarantee non-repudiation (relation between the document and the entity creating the electronic signature)
